Sometimes business is hard
Sometimes business is hard.
HARD
There is hard, like spending two years building a business while running another business while raising two boys while going back to work most nights from 8-10pm hard.
Devastatingly Hard
Then there is devastatingly hard like, Instagram decided to disable my Instagram account and cut off my entire following that I have fought tooth and nail to build right before I was about to launch my second collection hard.
Yes, that has happened. I hope it never happens to you.
I know of several others that this has happened to as well.
I cried.
I didn’t sleep.
I stressed.
Then this happened...
I got up the next morning, put on my “Do Not Give Up” earrings and got back to work.
I shared this story with my two boys (ages 6 and 3) so that they learn that even when life is hard, you do not give up.
After I told my boys my story, we reached a stop sign. I said my usual, “1, 2, 3, no ticket for me!” (I may have been stopped by a police officer once for not fully stopping.) My kids think it is funny and often chant it with me.
We get to the next stop sign and my three-year-old blurts out, “1, 2, 3. NOT TODAY SATAN!”
Indeed, child. Indeed. No bad attitudes will get us down today.
So here are my takeaways:
- Keep a list of your social media followers offline so that you can re-follow people if your account gets disabled.
- Invest in more than one social media platform so that you have multiple audiences.
- Move as many followers as possible to your email list so that you are in charge of your audience.
- Back up your email list in case something happens to your email account.
Business is sometimes hard, but it may as well be sparkly.
