Conflict Free
Esaltare Designs & David Douglas Diamonds & Jewelry will not knowingly offer conflict diamonds for sale. Conflict-free diamonds are those gems which were not obtained due to human rights abuse, child labor, violence, or environmental degradation. We demand both personal and written warranties from all our diamond suppliers that diamonds delivered to us have been purchased through legitimate, “Conflict Free” sources.
Kimberly Compliant
The Kimberly Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) was established to certify the origin of rough diamonds from sources known to be conflict-free. In the year of 2000 a meeting of southern Africa diamond producing countries established guidelines for the KPCS which were later adopted by the United Nations. To ensure compliance, independent auditing systems are tasked with tracking diamonds from their place of origin to delivery.
Polished diamonds sold in the US must adhere to the Patriot Act which requires that eery US dealer maintain Kimberly compliance or be subject to penalties from Homeland Security, the US Justice Department, and the US Treasury.
Traceable Canadian Diamonds
Here at Esaltare Designs and David Douglas Diamonds we love the idea of traceable diamonds! That’s why we offer Canada Mark Diamonds. They are responsibly mined, natural and untreated, and tracked through audited processes – from country of origin to polished stone. Each of our Canadian Diamonds also comply with the Canadian Diamond Code of Conduct.
Recycled Material
We are extremely thankful to the earth for providing us with raw materials to make beautiful jewelry. However, in efforts to reduce our environmental impact any further we supply and create jewelry made with SCS-Certified 100% recycled gold, silver, platinum, and other precious metals. This ensures our metals are conflict free and were not obtained from questionable or illegal sources. It also ensures workers are treat fairly according to internationally recognized labor standards.
GIA Melee Analysis
Synthetic and treated diamonds are growing in popularity among manufacturers as well as consumers both for price and for sustainability. Lab grown diamonds and earth mined diamonds, no matter how small they are, both test as diamonds – because they are!
Without proper equipment there is no way to distinguish between lab grown diamonds and earth mined diamonds used in jewelry. That is why we have chosen to use only round melee diamonds* screened through the GIA Melee Analysis Service to ensure you are receiving what we have promised. Trust is extremely important in our industry. We are taking actions in every step to maintain that trust between business and consumer.
*Melee Criteria – 0.9 to 4.0mm (approx. 0.005 to 0.25ct.) – Round shape only. All other shapes and sizes are tested by Stuller Inc.
